Where does the time go? It seems anymore that months go by at the blink of an eye. There is always so much going on, and I appreciate all that I have going on in my life. But, sometimes the website suffers at the expense of writing and family life. That said, I have several updates for you. I've renamed my 'Screenplays' section to be inclusive of other ideas I've come up with, like my Marvel Universe theme park. Plus, if you're like me and always hoped NBC would reboot the Heroes franchise, check out my updated blog. Heroes Reborn is coming in 2015! So, please look around. See what's new, and let me know what you think!
Walking with Father Time is progressing well. When dealing with a book about time travel, it is important to plan every step very meticulously. It is by far the most challenging story I have undertaken, and it very well may be the most challenging story I ever publish. But that is part of the fun of it! What I can promise you is, when it is done, Walking with Father Time will be a story you won't want to put down. It will be an emotional journey through time. In the coming months, I hope to have a cover posted for you. Also, I'm working on the release date now, so stay tuned! The updated synopsis is below.
Walking with Father Time is a historical fiction novel set in 1998 and present day Las Vegas, and centers around a scientist, Tempus Kairos, who loses his wife, Annie, while giving birth to their second child, Aevus. In his grief, he commits his life to developing a time machine to go back and save his wife.
After many years of sacrificing his life and time with his children, Tempus successfully creates the ability to travel through time. Relieved at his success, he sets to go back and right what went wrong with his family. Determined that, if he could save Annie, the time lost with his children could be restored with his family once again whole.
Unfortunately, after many failed attempts to save Annie in 1998, Tempus eventually realizes saving her is a problem he is unable to solve without keeping her from conceiving their daughter, a sacrifice he is unwilling to make. Distraught at his realization, Tempus decides to go back to the point in time when he decided to build the time machine, and convince his younger self to give up the task. This way, at least, instead of wasting his time on time travel, he can spend the time developing the relationship he never had with his children.
However, Tempus fails to consider the determination his younger self has for his mission, and now seeing Future Tempus has succeeded, Tempus Past rejects Future Tempus' pleas to vacate the project.
Once he realizes he cannot deter his younger self from creating time travel, Tempus decides to help him, but only with a condition. Future Tempus, now convinced time travel will not fulfill his ultimate goal, agrees to send information back routinely that will help Tempus Past develop time travel sooner than he had originally accomplished it. But the information would be delivered by his now teenage children. All Future Tempus asks in return is that Tempus Past spend one day together with his teenage kids each time they bring information back to him, and that Tempus Past uses the time saved to get to know his toddler and infant children. His goal is that, once Tempus Past realizes what Future Tempus already knows, he'll at least have the benefit of knowing his children after all.
Will Father Time succeed with his plan? How will his estranged children feel about the plan? Will Father Time ever find the happiness he spent his whole life seeking out? This all ages adventure will have new twists on travelling through time, mystery adventure and the value of family.
